Rabanne's Modern Remix: Everyday Glamour Meets Exquisite Experimentation

The models at Rabanne walked the runway in an unexpected yet fitting footwear choice: pumps encased in plastic, like see-through galoshes. A whimsical touch, perfect for protecting their pretty shoes from the Parisian rain, and a playful nod to the brand's playful and practical approach to fashion.

Julien Dossena, the creative director, continues to redefine the everyday at Rabanne. This season, he presented a collection that seamlessly blends practicality and extravagance, creating a wardrobe that is both wearable and captivating. He describes his designs as "a box with legs," emphasizing the layered, boxy silhouettes that define his vision for Rabanne.

Dossena's designs are anything but basic. Everyday staples like jackets, shirts, tees, and shorts are elevated with unexpected touches of luxury. Silvery foil adds a futuristic edge to lingerie pieces, while a blazer's lapels are meticulously embroidered with tiny silver discs. A sparkly top, composed of geometric panels connected by metal chains and paired with beaded basketball shorts, epitomizes Rabanne's bold and modern aesthetic.

But perhaps the most captivating element of the collection are the three innovative bags. Inspired by a 1969 Rabanne design, these statement pieces showcase the brand's commitment to experimentation and luxury.

One bag is crafted from Astier de Villatte's fired white ceramic, another from Murano's Venini blown glass, and the third, dubbed the world's most expensive bag, is crafted from 18-karat gold coins by metalworker Arthus Bertrand. Each bag is paired with a matching minidress, the gold version trailing ethereal gold leaf, a mesmerizing visual spectacle.

While the gold bag might remain a collector's item, Dossena embraces the iterative nature of the creative process. "That's what I love," he shares, "to experiment all the time, to explore the materials, and to try to push the boundaries, because that's what the house is about." Rabanne, under Dossena's direction, is a testament to the constant pursuit of innovation, where everyday luxury and bold experimentation converge.
