Details: Rahul Mishra FALL 2024 COUTURE
In Hindu mythology, celestial beings are commonly represented with more than one head, to articulate their ‘aura’. Lord Brahma is the seer of all things, thus represented by four heads facing outwards in all four directions. In theory, the universe is a multi dimensional plane consisting of all time, space and its contents that emerge from Brahma’s imagination.
Over the past year, designer Rahul Mishra attempted to reinterpret this philosophy in couture through his own rendition of human faces, just as it is imagined by several pioneers in the field of visual arts and fashion such as Sandro Botticelli, Pablo Picasso and Vincent Van Gogh. Like Claud Monet— ‘to paint the air’.
"We have imagined the texture of the human flesh in a impressionist manner, translated into hand embroidery with intricate thread-work, rhinestones, sequins, glass beads and zardozi"
The structure of the cape dress is supported with a metal frame that is created in-house by our welding technician Mohammad Rahees Saifi who has collaborated with us on a fashion project for the first time. Rahees continues to work with Rahul for over past five years and has significantly contributed to the building of our Couture Atelier in India and Rahul’s passive house in the Himalayas.
