Chanel SPRING 2025 READY-TO-WEAR

Chanel's return to the Grand Palais after a four-year absence was a spectacle of glittering tweeds and hushed anticipation. While guests reveled in the opulent setting and the sparkle of the newly renovated glass roof, a cloud of uncertainty hung over the empty creative director's seat.

Speculation ran rampant among industry insiders, debating the ideal candidate: a marketing mastermind, a creative visionary, or perhaps, in a fittingly progressive move, a woman. Hedi Slimane's surprise Celine collection, with its distinct Coco influences, added fuel to the fire.

The Spring collection itself, however, was a testament to Chanel's enduring legacy. The creative studio drew inspiration from the Grand Palais itself, weaving intricate, hand-knit pieces that mirrored its Art Deco architecture. Lightness and airiness defined the collection, expressed through flowing skirts, feather-trimmed collars, and ethereal chiffon capes. Youthful energy pulsed through the show, amplified by platform shoes and a whimsical giant birdcage, echoing a classic Chanel commercial.

The collection embraced innovation while staying true to Chanel's signature aesthetic. Candy-colored tweeds, shorts suits, and even a sequin-embellished denim jacket and jeans reflected a modern twist on classic Chanel styles. The playful spirit extended to the evening wear, where embellished denim and feather-dusted capes mingled with sparkly tweed jumpsuits, culminating in Riley Keough's ethereal performance of Prince's "When Doves Cry" from a swing within the birdcage.

As the dove hangs suspended in mid-flight, the fashion world waits with bated breath to see where Chanel will soar next, a testament to the enduring power of a brand that continues to captivate and inspire.

The CHANEL Spring-Summer 2025 Ready-to-Wear collection’s striking print takes the form of colourfully lush, painted feathers that enliven flowing silk capes, ruffled blouses, and wide-leg fluid trousers. The same motif embellishes denim styles as sparkling rhinestones.

Pastel graphic tweeds echo the elegant lines of the Grand Palais’ glass-panelled roof. When styled head-to-toe, the pattern extends seamlessly to shoes and bags, creating a harmonious silhouette enhanced with tone-on-tone tie-shape inserts.
